Holiday in Mojstrana

Mojstrana is a small village in northern Slovenia, close to the border with Austria and the border with Italy. It is a popular destination for tourists looking for nature and tranquillity in Slovenia. In this blog, I will give a tip of what there is to do near Mojstrana, and show appointment some sights you should not miss during your holiday in northern Slovenia.

What is there to do near Mojstrana?

Mojstrana is located in beautiful surroundings, with great views of the Triglav mountain range. This makes it a great place for outdoor activities, such as hiking and walking and skiing. In summer and autumn you can hike in the beautiful nature here, and in winter it is a popular place for skiers and snowboarders.

Mojstrana a central starting point to visit other attractions in the area. The village is close to Triglav National Park, where you can enjoy breathtaking nature. From Mojstrana, a beautiful trail leads into the national park. If you follow this route you will come to Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj.

Less than half an hour’s drive from Mojstrana you will find the village of Bled. This is the tourist centre of Slovenia. Every tourist must have seen Lake Bled. This is the lake with the island with the little church you see on every postcard of Slovenia.

Sights near Mojstrana

If you go on holiday to Mojstrana, there are a number of sights you should not miss. Below I list four fun places to visit.

Triglav National Park

Triglav National Park is a must-see if you are near Mojstrana. Named after Slovenia’s highest mountain Triglav, the park offers breathtaking views of the mountainous world of the Julian Alps. You can hike and hike in the park. Also a number of beautiful sights such as mountain lakes and waterfalls

The Triglav mountain pass

15 minutes from Mojstrana you will find the village of Kranjska Gora, where you can traverse the Triglav mountain pass via a dozen hairpin bends. Along the way, you’ll come across an old wooden Russian chapel. But watch out, you’ll drive right past it! During your drive up, you will encounter several breathtaking views. At the top of the mountain pass, you can park and enjoy a beautiful view of the valley in which the Soca River flows.

Peričnik waterfall

Peričnik waterfall is another beautiful sight near Mojstrana. From Mojstrana, follow the road into the valley. From the car park, walk to the waterfall in 10 to 15 minutes. This impressive waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Slovenia. The waterfall cascades down from about 160 metres high, and you can even walk behind it

From the car park, you can walk to the waterfall via a path through the forest. Along the way, you will pass beautiful viewpoints, where you can enjoy the views of the waterfall and its surroundings. You don’t need an entrance ticket, and the waterfall is not touristy. Just enjoy.

Supermarket and ATM in Mojstrana

In the middle of Mojstrana you will find a Mercator supermarket. It is open Monday to Saturday. Parking in front of the supermarket is easy and you also have an ATM outside the supermarket to withdraw money.

Accommodations in Mojstrana

If you want to stay in Mojstrana, we can heartily recommend the hostel Lukna.

This cute wooden house contains several rooms with private bathrooms and a shared kitchen. It is hip, clean and very affordable. You’ll find Lukna in the middle of Mojstrana.

For the best views, you need to be across the main road. Here lies the village of Dovje which is actually adjacent to Mojstrana. From Dovje you have a breathtaking view of the village of Mojstrana at the foot of the mountains of Triglav National Park. They claim to have the most beautiful view in Slovenia here, and nothing could be further from the truth. We ourselves have had good experiences with Rož’ca apartments in Dovje.
