Motorhome Holiday In Winter

3 tips for your next campervan trip

Travelling in a proper campervan can be a wonderful experience. It gives you the freedom to shape your holiday exactly as you like. You can turn it into an adventurous road trip, but you can also look for a lovely, peaceful destination where you can enjoy the surroundings. To make sure your holiday goes as smoothly and successfully as possible, there are a few tips to bear in mind if you are planning to set off on your first campervan trip soon.

Find the right destination

One of the great things about a campervan holiday is that you have the freedom to travel wherever you want. However, it is important to choose the right location for your road trip. Do not take unnecessary risks and choose a destination with plenty of campsites and well-maintained roads. There are plenty of destinations that meet these requirements, where you can enjoy both unspoilt countryside and beautiful cities. The good thing is that you often do not need to look far across the border. France and Germany are excellent destinations for a campervan trip.

Make sure you have somewhere to stay overnight

You cannot just park a campervan anywhere, so choose well in advance the right place where you can stay overnight in a campervan. In some countries it is possible to wild camp, but that is not the case in most countries in Europe. In most cases, it is therefore more sensible to look for a campsite to stay overnight. You can always book a campsite in advance to avoid any nasty surprises when looking for somewhere to stay. There is also always the chance that, instead of the campsite you booked, you will unexpectedly come across another lovely place to stay overnight.

Choose a campervan that suits you and your destination

Not all campervans are made the same; they all come in different shapes and sizes, each with its own purpose. Which would you rather drive, a large or a small campervan? Also bear in mind that with a category B driving licence you may drive a campervan weighing up to 3,500 kilos. With a larger campervan, you are also not exactly able to drive through narrow streets or roads. The luxury and facilities also vary from campervan to campervan; not every vehicle comes with a bathroom and toilet, for example.

Is your current campervan not suited to your needs? In that case, perhaps you could consider selling it. Selling your old campervan does not have to be a complicated process. With the right broker, your old campervan will be out of your hands in no time, and you will have the chance to buy the ideal campervan straight away.
